There are some great deals to be found on an endless variety of cruise destinations with all the different cruise lines. These discounted cruise prices are typically on the base price of the cruise, but don't include any of the extras available on cruises that can challenge a budget. But once you've booked your cruise, make no mistake that the cruise lines are counting on squeezing many more dollars out of your pocket during your cruise vacation. The good news is that with some basic education on cruise activities and options, and a little will power, you can avoid the cruise line trap of overspending on your next cruise vacation.

Keep in mind that cruise lines are businesses and make much of their profits through your participation in on board and on shore activities. They offer professional brochures and fancy websites that make their options look like the best or only choice available. Where in some cases there may not be another or better choice, and in many cases it will certainly be worth the convenience to pay the cruise line price, often there are less expensive alternatives that can save you money or allow you to stretch the budget.

If you are looking for an inexpensive yet fun packed vacation, there is nothing better than a cruise vacation. Even if your budget is limited, a cruise can still make a fantastic vacation without breaking that budget. The fact is that many cruisers end up overspending on their cruise and spend just as much if not more on cruise extras than they did on the original base price of the cruise itself. But many others spend very little on cruise extras and still enjoy the complete cruise experience and great inexpensive vacation.
